Reformation has managed to make sustainability chic, and I’m all the way here for it.

The LA based brand was launched I’m 2009 by Yael Aflalo, with an intention to design effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure. Sustainability is at the core of all things Reformation – from factory practices to fabric selection, this brand is one you can learn from.  I spent a few minutes reading about Who They Are and let me tell you, they have my heart. . & next paycheck. I admire the purpose and practices Reformation utilizes as a company making their brand that much more attractive to my style & closet.

See, I’m always going to sweat a brand with a good back story, but I’m going to be loyal to  the one that makes a positive impact & can teach me something new. For example, I learned Americans throw away around 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per person per year while they recycle less than 15% in the same time frame. Not chic at all. We are always encouraged to buy, but very rarely to recycle, donate or simply live with less. Let me be that friend that challenges you to buy less but better, so you are able to curate a style that suits your life. Minimalism is in and brings so much peace to your pockets & closet.

Sustainable fashion is a philosophy that has an end goal of creating a system that leaves less of a detrimental impact on the earth. The slow fashion theory encourages innovative and recycled fabrics, ethical working conditions and decreasing company carbon footprints. A primary focus is to  improve the impacts of products through fiber selections and fabric processes. Reformation’s mission is to lead and inspire a sustainable way to be fashionable – THEY ARE NAILING IT.

My love for sustainability in fashion began in college when I read    Where Am I Wearing?  An excellent book about a journalist that traveled the world to find where the clothes on his back where made. Reading about his experience  made me aware of the people behind the products and how important it is to be knowledgeable about factory processes & brand moral. Make sure the clothes on your back are worth it. I support brands that speak to my style & inspire me.  All that to say Reformation has made it’s way into my heart & the top of my must have list . Take a look at some of my favorite pieces right now and visit their about page -I’m sure you’ll feel the same way.
